Hey all!

I just read the little caption for The Authority #19, and is there really going to be a new team? I love Apollo and Midnighter and would hate to see them go.

If anyone could fill me in, it'd be much appreciated! :)

Hi! I've been lurking this community/the long hair forum since the end of last spring, but only recently joined this comm. I have thick but quite fine hair that's almost waist length (I like to pretend).

Here's some pictures and a quick question. )

I'm trying to keep myself eating a healthy 1,300 ( thats whats required for someone of my height and physical activity level to keep going while loosing those 6 extra pds i put on)
But I'm eating over that amount!
I'm at 1,500 cal today

I'm tracking my calories and exercising but I still eat more calories than i'm supposed to.

I think i have no idea what a portion size truly looks like. Or I need that book " Eat This Not That" Have you heard of it?

08:34 am - what do i use?
Hello,

Ok so i have a friend whom i want desperately to help, but need some direction, because to be honest i'm a little clueless. My friend has a small business and wants to be able to keep track of the clients. Something that she can input the data from the clients, who they last dealt with and the date time they were in last and their expenditures. I know it's a database ...but apparently i'm completely stumped on what to use to compile this information into one neat little computer program that's easily refrenced whenever she might need to. Any suggestions or help? please? :D

thank you ever so much!

I've got an attack of the blues, so I made myself go and be sociable at Fidel's, which paid off because I walked past Flowers Manuela, which is a boutique-y florist type shop with lots of little bits and pieces in it, and managed to find two of my offshore Christmas presents for folks in Foreign Climes, and has given me ideas for another couple of folks. I don't normally do the present thing because 9/10 times I can't find anything that actually suits the people that I've got in mind, and I don't really believe in buying someone a present for the sake of present-buying, and if I do find something that suits the person, then I'll buy it and hand it over as soon as I see it, like with Wendy and the sheepdog naughts and crosses game that I found that time. BUT! Flowers Manuela were awesome, and I'm going to have to head back there in the next couple of weeks in order to get the rest of the Things What Were Cool bought.
Come to think of it, I've been remarkably ill-humoured today with no grounds for it, which is kinda lame, but it did pay off because I was grumpy and belligerent at Aron's friend Richard and he bought me three drinks. AT ONCE. He says it was because I couldn't decide, so I got all three of the things that I thought of and then summarily dismissed because I was Captain Contrary Pants, but I have the sneaking suspicion that he was hoping that I'd knock them all back and magically turn into someone that was actually pleasant once the booze had kicked in. I'm trying not to see it as a positive reinforcement of my grump; and rather as someone being nice to me for the sake of being nice; but let's be honest, if being grumpy is going to have that kind of reward, it's hard not to see it as a good thing.
After that, there was a brief hanging out at Jodi's, then work for the Whole Lotta Led gig, which although not quite as awesome and bogantastic as the last gig, they were still fucking awesome and heaps of fun, even if they didn't play Immigrant Song* or Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. they had the belly-dancer for Kashmir again, and she looks like what would happen if Sylvia and Taryn had a parthenogenetic love-child. Similar facial features as Sylvia, only with Taryn's eyes and colouring. She does my head in a little. The crowd were cool too. There were a couple of guys that recognised my tattoos from the last Whole Lotta Led, which made me grin, because I remembered them from their weird-ass drinks*. Apparently the tattoos were one of the few things that were remembered about their last Whole Lotta Led, so that was nice.
Speaking of things that are nice, I got my first completely blatant Stop Dead*** tonight, which made my ego crack the ceiling. I think if anything else happens to secure my self-satisfaction, my ego will actually be big enough to take on both Godzilla and my Student Loan for supremacy over Tokyo. After that, it might have to have a quick sit down and a cup of tea before taking on Jez's Smugness, which really will be a clash of the Titans. I think Jez's Smugness might win the day though.

I wish I could shake this fatigue though. It's making me mopey and I don't like it. I'm going to the doctor on Monday to get the numb patch in my hand checked out, so I might get a blood test done or something to make sure I'm not dying or something equally lame. Because you know that life without me would suck. And yes, I have been eating properly the last couple of days, as well as sleeping adequately, and having 5-HTP to see if that doesn't level things out.

Om nom nom psychedelics. As much as I love Led Zepplin, I'll always love Pink Floyd MOAR because of this song. I listened to it constantly while I was in high school, and it's awesome.

And now, Bath. I anticipate Colin the Bastard Pigeon, and although I haven't yet got a watergun for him, it'll happen. Bastard.

Also, Tamsyn? There was a Scottish guy that came in and asked for a Corona. I got him to say it twice. It doesn't sound quite as good as Steinlager Pure, but it was up there. God bless the Scots.

*Which is a shame, because I was really looking forward to that one because it's my all-time favourite of theirs. I mean, really, how can you not love it? It's Vikings and badass guitar, all in one delicious package...
**Feijoa vodka, with lemonade, lime and bitters. Although I must admit, it's not quite as bad as the guy that wanted rum, bourbon and coke in the same glass, but with no ice. Damn bogans...
***A Stop Dead is where you're being hot to the point where you stop someone dead in their tracks because they've seen you being hot; and it's normally me being the one with their jaw on the floor going DAMN and being caught out and looking like a bit of an ass. The boy tonight was quite hilarious because I was doing my standard razzle-dazzle All-Singing All-Dancing Bar-Tender act along to Whole Lotta Love while I was putting bottles away on the back bar, and I spun around to serve him and he basically went Eeeep and forgot what he wanted to drink, and also how to talk. Bless.

10:31 am - Live Strong
Just stopping by to make a quick recommendation.

I've recently begun using Livestrong.com to track my caloric intake/exercise/weight loss and I have to admit, it's amazing.

It is probably the best site of this type that I've tried and I wanted to pass it along to anyone interested.

Pro's:

The daily plate & Live Strong have merged- The Daily Plate allows you to search a massive database of food to find & log what you've eaten.

Easy to use & not a huge pain in the neck- I usually hate trying to keep track of calories because it takes forever and the databases never have exactly what you ate. This website has made it a lot easier for me: it's quick and simple.

Helps you develop healthy calorie goals to lose, gain, or maintain weight.

When I was tracking my food & exercise religiously for two weeks I actually lost weight- It's purely anecdotal, but if it hadn't helped me I wouldn't be recommending it to you.

Con's:

Some of the "articles" on Livestrong are actually just pushing fad diets and weight loss pills- you need to be careful of the source of the information youre reading

Livestrong (as opposed to The Daily Plate portion of the site) seems to have a lot of useless content. I just go straight to "My Plate" where you log all of your food, exercise, etc.

I would seriously recommend trying it- food journaling helps you lose weight, and this site at least helps me keep a food journal.

10:26 am - Potluck ideas?
So, my office Christmas party/potluck lunch is coming up, and at first I was going to bring dessert, but then thought that since I'm the only vegetarian I should bring something "real" if I actually want to eat ;)

So, does anyone have any ideas on something I could bring? The requirements are:

- serves ~6-8 people
- can be served either cold or room temp as I don't want to fight for oven space!

09:53 am - Friday Five: Perches
Sorry I missed last week, folks! Here are this week's questions:

1. What types of perches do you provide for your parrot? (e.g. Natural branch, rope, cement/"nail trimmer", dowel...)

2. Which type of perch does your parrot like to spend the most time on?

3. Do you rearrange your bird's perches? If so, how often?

4. How do you clean your perches?

5. Have you ever made your own perches? If so, what material(s) did you use, and how did you prepare them for use?

09:14 am - Help!
Long story short: I had a sleep study from Tuesday night to Wednesday afternoon -- the electrodes that they attached that were in my hair were glued on. They told me that to dissolve the glue, I should just use acetone.

That doesn't sound safe. Like, at all.

What should I do? Because of this, I can't actually brush through my hair, because some of the bottoms of the strands have been caught in the middle of my hair.

...For the record, my hair is butt length. So this is pretty much a crisis for me.

Any ideas?
